'Borderlands The Handsome Collection': Here's How To Transfer Save Files To Xbox One And PS4 Versions

'Borderlands: The Handsome Collection' Platform Transfer System Outlined For Next Week's Release

Gearbox has released a handy guide on how to transfer all of your old saved games from Borderlands 2 and The Pre-Sequel onto the next gen Borderlands: The Handsome Collection.

You Probably Think This Clash Of Clans Attack Is About You

Thankfully, no unscrewing or SD cards required. Last gen players on a particular brand of consoles - Xbox or PlayStation - can transfer between the older and newer models. Meaning that you can transfer from the 360 to the One, but not the other way around. You can, however, transfer files from PS4 to PS3 to Vita. On the official site, Gearbox advises that you should "think of them as a triangle". Saves can move in any direction - though only Borderlands 2 saves work on the Vita.

First and foremost, make sure both versions of the game are entirely up to date. Yes, there will be a Day One patch of the Handsome Collection, so get ready for that. You can only upload one save at a time; multiple files require going through the whole rigamarole all over again.

New Helldivers DLC Dropping Soon

Simply connect to the online account and follow along:

- From the main menu of the PS3 or Xbox 360 versions of BL2 or BL:TPS, choose the "Cross Save" (PlayStation consoles) or "Cloud Save" (Xbox consoles), then "Upload Save" function.

- Once the save has been uploaded, choose "Cross Save" or "Cloud Save" then "Download Save" from the main menu of the PS4 / Xbox One Handsome Collection game for which you're downloading the save.

And voila. Next gen glory awaits. Certain items do not transfer over - items stored in Claptrap's Secret Stash from Borderlands 2, mainly - but most everything you fought for is available.

Check out the full notes here. The Handsome Collection is out next Tuesday for PS4 and Xbox One.
