A new trailer for Halo 5: Guardians has revealed that the game's release date will be October 27, 2015.

The latest in the "Hunt the Truth" campaign, the new trailer flashes the date alongside the title at the end, the first time we've seen an exact date.

The trailer itself is quite dramatic, and probably gives the best glimpse yet of what the game's story will revolve around. Locke, a character currently seen in the live action series Halo Nightfall, provides a monologue, which we quickly learn is about Master Chief. Watch it for yourself below.

He speaks of the famous protagonist becoming a traitor (something hinted at in the previous trailer) rather than a hero, and that he's responsible for the destruction in the scene. His walk and dialogue eventually takes him to Master Chief, injured and collpased against a huge statue of himself. His dialogue ends with Locke pulling a gun on Jonh-117 to "save" everyone, and fans will no doubt wonder what events led to this massive swing in the narrative.
