Final Fantasy X / X2 HD Remaster Takes A Trip Down Memory Lane In Latest 'Return To Spira' Trailer
Nobody ever lost money repurposing their old material and slapping a new HD remaster on it. Especially Square Enix who play both the nostalgia and 'new and shiny' card with the latest Final Fantasy X / X-2 HD Remaster trailer that begs you to return to a simpler time...the early to mid-2000s.
The game set will feature both titles, fully optimized for enhanced play and comes with the two minor expansion packs, Final Fantasy X: Eternal Calm and Final Fantasy X-2: Last Mission, each originally exclusive to the Japanese market. That's over 200 hours of Spira based action, adventure and costumes (oh so many costumes).
But at the very least, you should have Final Fantasy Type-0 HD, Square Enix's other FF remaster, finished with by the time X / X-2 hit shelves on May 12.
Players can pre-order the game now and receive an exclusive calendar featuring artwork by the acclaimed artist, Yoshitaka Amano, available at participating retailers (like Gamestop) and the Square Enix Online Store."
X was the last Final Fantasy game I completed and the experience is up there in my gaming history. The characters are wonderful - I still think Auron is one of my favorite characters of all time - the gameplay and advancement system top notch and the storyline definitely spoke to 20-something year old me. I wonder if it would have the same effect nowadays.
Find out next month. In the meantime, take a Return to Spira, and remember.
