Mortal Kombat X iOS Out Now For Free On The App Store

Mortal Kombat X is out for iOS devices today, bringing a different take on the upcoming fighter to your smartphone.

Professor Layton 7 Will Be A Mobile Title

The main game won't be out until April 14 on consoles and PC, but NetherRealms has released the free mobile version on the App Store now. The gameplay is not full-on fighter action, instead using tap and swipe-based mechanics to brutally duke it out.

You can watch the launch trailer below to get a feel for what that looks like. Mortal Kombat X on mobile lets you build a team of three fighters to battle and level up, as well as a roster of 24 characters. There's gear to upgrade in this 3v3 mode and new special attacks to unlock, as well as online challenges against other players. You can also call in a friend's character to act as your ally.

Playing the mobile game can unlock rewards for the console version of the game and vice versa. The gameplay is similar to Injustice: Gods Among Us if you've played that title, which works well as a mobile game.

Mortal Kombat X is supposed to be coming to Android as well, but only the iOS version has surfaced today--keep an eye out for news on its launch.
