Project CARS Release Date Confirmed: Much-Delayed Racing Sim Is Out Earlier Than Anticipated Next Month

After Many Delays, Project CARS Gets A (Hopefully) Final Release Date Next Month

After endless delay and negative speculation, Slightly Mad Studios has finally announced the final release date for their visually glorious Project CARS.

These Stormtroopers Totally Look Like Stormtroopers! Who'd Have Thought?

We originally expected the game to hit the tracks in "mid-May", but it turns out we're getting it just a touch early. The title is out on May 8 for PC, Xbox One and PS4.

But we have been burned before. Project CARS was originally scheduled to release last November, and then it was pushed back to April and finally to May to polish any lingering details. After the bloodbath that was the 2014 November big-budget game release roster, in which seemingly every major AAA title was beset with crippling Day One bugs (Halo: The Master Chief Collection wasn't properly fixed for months), the studio wisely stepped back.

A Wii U version is planned for some time later this year, in all likelihood November.

The extra time certainly looks like it has been worth it, as this game looks positively beautiful. The company recently released the minimum PC specs needed to run the game, and while not impossible to achieve in this day and age, they can still put a tax on your system.

The recommended settings, however, is a Witcher level beast.

There are currently dozens of cars and tracks coming with the game, and Slightly Mad will be giving the title its full support for years, which is good for the people who helped back the project (CARS is an acronym for Community Assisted Racing Simulator) as they will take a share of the profits for the first three years after release.

Let's hope they mean it this time.
