Anticipation was high for the reveal of Star Wars Battlefront, and while what we saw from Star Wars Celebration looks good, it didn't take long for some fan skepticism to begin.

Potential customers are questioning several aspects of the game, including what seems like a small number of maps and the fact that the game only includes the original trilogy. An even bigger sticking point is the lack of space battles, a staple feature of the previous title whose absence is drawing criticism.

Some fans are predicting that EA will charge for the 'missing' features as DLC after launch, intentionally withholding content for profit at a later time. DICE developers took to Reddit to discuss these concerns with fans, explaining that there's nothing being held back.

"No," said user DICE_TheBikingViking, verified as a producer on the game. "Please don't make me break what I can and cannot say, but if you think there's anything we're not including in the game to save it for DLC, I can tell you you're 100% wrong. In this project, I've never heard anyone say "Let's not do this for launch so we can do it as DLC instead". Ever."

A pretty clear statement, despite what fans may speculate. He goes on to say that he thinks the team is working on a game that is "well worth its price" when asked if they feel aware that the game is releasing with less features than its predecessors. As for space battles, they're very much on the mind.

"We have and are still discussing space every now and again. We know it has some very exciting prospects. So of course that would be fun to explore! When and if that will happen is impossible for me to say, but no, we're not saying that space battles are evil and that we will never, ever touch them with a ten-foot pole."

He also explained that the decision to only include the prequel trilogy simply came down to a tough decision they had to make, likely needing to choose a realistic scope for the game. There are some quotes about planning DLC as well:

"To be honest, by far the majority of ideas and main decision making is not made by higher-ups, but by the team. And yes, what you see in DLC is sometimes the result of things that you started thinking during the latter part of development.

"We have a word in development for constantly adding new features: it's called feature creep and it's absolutely paramount to avoid that in the latter stages if you want to build a good game. It's hard though! But as you will quickly learn as you embark on game development; the truly hard part is finishing and shipping the game."

Star Wars Battlefront will launch on PC, PS4, and Xbox One on November 17.
