'Marvel Contest Of Champions' Update Adds New 'Avengers: Age Of Ultron' Characters & Alliance Mechanics
Avengers: Age of Ultron has hit Europe this week - you're welcome for that whole World War II thing by the way! - and as such, every official Marvel licensed game has been getting some update based on it. The next example: Marvel Contest of Champions, the F2P brawler on your mobile device.
Apparently, Ultron is just mucking up the works all over the place. Not only is he making life hell for The Avengers here on Earth, but he's also gotten his psychotic robot paws onto The Contest, and The Collector is having none of that. Players will get to join the battle in exclusive Age of Ultron inspired costumes and characters, including Iron Man's Hulk Buster armor, Ultron himself, Vision and Quicksilver.
Additionally, since us lowly Americans who totally and completely liberated Europe from the tyranny of the Third Reich, aren't getting Avengers for another week, we will have to satisfy ourselves with an exclusive Age of Ultron clip found only in the game. At this rate, I'm pretty sure they have released nearly the entire movie in either commercials, trailers or little events like this.
"The Marvel Contest of Champions development team jumped at the opportunity to create new Ultron-themed content that fans, like ourselves, would be psyched to play," said Cuz Parry, Creative Director for Kabam's Vancouver Studio. "The game has been downloaded more than 31 million times, and we're humbled by the support. So we wanted to create something special for players that not only were inspired by the upcoming movie, but also rallied them together to take on one of Marvel Comics' greatest foes, Ultron!"
But wait there's more! Additional changes from the update also include a new Summoner Mastery category, in which players can devote resources to both offensive and defensive abilities Alliance events and arenas, and players may also challenge friends to 1v1 challenges for bragging rights.
