Blizzard's MOBA Heroes of the Storm has announced its next character, Kael'thas Sunstrider.

Full May Video Game Release Schedule For All Systems

Heroes of the Storm takes its characters and settings from Blizzard's Warcraft, Starcraft, and Diablo franchises. Kael'thas hails from the first of those properties, and has a backstory spanning through Warcraft 3 and World of Warcraft.

Blizzard announced the news on Twitter, but have not provided any details at this time. Those may come during the Reddit AMA mentioned in that tweet--the Q&A session is set for May 12 at 2:30 p.m. PST on the Heroes of the Storm subreddit.

Nintendo Announces Plans For Themed Attractions At Universal Parks

Heroes of the Storm's full launch is set for June 2. The MOBA is currently in closed beta, and has not yet been open to public play. That will change May 20, though, when the game enters an open beta. That will be a short two weeks until launch, hopefully giving Blizzard enough time to address public feedback.

It was only a matter of time until one of the biggest developers on the planet joined in on the MOBA craze, given the genre's popularity and Blizzard's already diverse stable of franchises. Leveraging all of its popular properties into a new game is a stroke of genius, helping it to stand out from the crowded MOBA space by using recognizable names. If you haven't been lucky enough to play the closed beta, get your fingers ready for May 20, and don't forget to check out that AMA on May 12.
