House of Wolves is finally upon us, Guardians. The second Destiny expansion is set for launch today, ready to introduce new areas, game modes, and gear.

When exactly can you expect the content to go live? Bungie has already administered the required updates to Destiny's server over the past few days, and will manually push House of Wolves out to players at 10 a.m. Pacific (1 p.m. Eastern).
Given that the expansion is releasing on a Tuesday, it will coincide with Destiny's weekly server reset--the time when all once-per-week activities become available again. This happens early in the morning on Tuesdays, but House of Wolves will change the process this time. Bungie has explained that when the reset hits, some of Destiny's activities will be unavailable. For the eight hours between the reset (2 a.m. Pacific) and House of Wolves' launch, the Nightfall Strike, Weekly Heroic Strike, Daily Heroic Story, and featured Crucible playlist will be unavailable. They will be unlocked again when the expansion goes live.

House of Wolves will open The Reef to Guardians for the first time (aside from a few non-playable story segments in the main game), offering a new social area as a base of operations for the new missions, complete with unique vendors. A cooperative mode called Prison of Elders will be introduced, a wave-based arena with its own rewards and gear. Crucible mode Trials of Osiris will also be added, bringing a competitive 3v3 experience with no respawns.
Supplementing all of this are core changes to the game's economy, material exchange, and weapon upgrade system as well as a host of new House of Wolves weapons and armor. Another new feature will help prevent players from getting kicked to Orbit during connection issues, which will only be rolled out in Trials of Osiris initially.
