Harmonix has finally uncovered the explanation behind the big distinction in pricing between the PS4 and Xbox One standalone editions of Rock Band 4. The buying public, more particularly the Xbox One users, felt the pricing was unfair.
According to Harmonix, the PS4 standalone package costs $60 USD while the Xbox One variant is at $80 USD. As per the company, this discrepancy is on account of the Xbox One form obliging a "legacy diversion controller connector," which will permit players to utilize their current Xbox 360 instruments.
While the PS4 doesn't require any adapters because any previous instruments on older PlayStations will work with the PS4, the developer added.
In related news, this was not the first time the game received such criticisms as the Australian consumers blasted the company because of a somewhat similar incident.
When Rock Band 4 was released for pre-orders, the price for the Australian community was a little higher than it was offered in the Northern America and the Europe regions.
The Rock Band 4 packaged, which includes a guitar and drum kit, was priced in Europe at 220 pounds ($345), compared to United States' $250 USD.
Rock Band 4's official distributor, Mad Catz, was quick to defend the company by releasing a statement through a representative, Alex Verrey, that the company is not out to make out more money in a particular property.
Verrey added that it was the TAX that made the big difference, with regards to the price discrepancy.
Meanwhile, the Australian consumers will have to shell a little bit more than the EU and NA consumers as the game package is sold at $367 AUD or around $500 USD.
In Australia's case, although they did not directly stated, Mad Catz confirmed that in other regions and other territories they are directing the sales to a separate distributor which is more likely to set the product at a higher cost.
