Nintendo Finally Announces CEO, Surprises Everyone With The Choice

After two months of the sudden passing of Satoru Iwata, Nintendo has finally named their newest leader. And to everyone's surprise, it was Tasumi Kimishima, the longtime Nintendo director for the North America Region.

Satoru was Nintendo's fourth CEO and was responsible for the company's most successful years which includes the Wii gaming console that sold more than 100 million units and has put back the iconic gaming manufacturer into contention.

Kimishima was surprisingly picked over the more popular Shigero Miyamoto who is known for Nintendo's popular games Mario, Donkey Kong, and the Legend of Zelda franchises. Kimishima only joined Nintendo in the early 2000s handling the Pokémon franchise and was named director after spending two years with the popular brand.

The former North America CEO will have a large shoe to fill in, but looks very optimistic because of Nintendo's venture into the mobile game arena, after shying away from the industry for too long. The optimism is coming from the much anticipated Pokémon Go mobile game, which will be Nintendo's first title for their new venture.

Nintendo also partnered with mobile game maker DeNA, which has recently expressed, through their CEO, positive outcome with the partnership citing the million followers of the popular gaming brand that will eventually lead into millions of transactions even though the mobile gaming industry is currently facing a very daunting task.

In addition, Nintendo has recently celebrated Mario's 30 years in the industry and has somewhat rejuvenated the Japan-based multi-billion organization through a series of releases, which includes the Mario Maker, a game that allows the public to design the iconic game's stages. The levels will be then uploaded and can be played online.

Also, Nintendo receiving positive reception and boost as well from their successful online games, which is headed by online shooting game Splatoon.
