PS4 Cuts Prices In UK, Will Xbox One Follow

PS4 Cuts Prices In UK, Will Xbox One Follow

Earlier this week, Microsoft Xbox One Chief, Phil Spencer, boldly predicted that the PlayStation 4 will drop its prices basing his judgment on the historical pattern of Sony PlayStation. True enough, the PlayStation 4 has dropped its prices in the Japan and the UK will follow shortly. With this at hand, Xbox One fans are now asking if Microsoft will follow Sony's lead.

According to Latin Post, Sony finally gave in to their UK fans and extended the price cut to the region starting October 9 this year. Sony also said that together with the price cut, they will also launch the game Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collections. However, as of now, UK is the only region that Sony has announced, although India is showing up in the radar, but Sony has yet to confirm it.

The report also mentioned Microsoft's two cents on the price drop, and they said that aside from what is expected, they see the move beneficial for the competition between the game console providers in the market. This gesture from Microsoft is very unusual, considering that the PlayStation 4 has been leading in the sales department throughout the year (except April) where Xbox One tops the chart.

Also, a representative from Microsoft's Xbox One arm said that they are confident with their product and exclusive titles so they are positive to see the Xbox One leading once again in the future. On the other hand, industry experts are having doubts if Microsoft can actually top the PS4 more overly if Sony decided to extend their price cut in the NA region.

In related news, PC Mag also reported about the price cut and looked at clues if Xbox One will follow Sony's lead and here is what they uncovered. Microsoft is confident with their future plans thus do not see any value in lowering their prices. Second, the price of the Xbox One is cheaper than the PS4 so it is illogical to lower it down since it is the PS4 who runs after them. Lastly, the holiday season is coming which only means that the people will buy their products anyway, regardless if they will retain the original price or not.
