'Halo 6' News & Release Date: 343 Expands Plot, Saga In The Works

343 Industries confirmed that Halo 6 is already in the works at their studio but gives no concrete release dates. Halo director, Frank O'Connor, assures fan that Halo's plot is developed enough to propel the series for the next twenty years.

In an interview with Games Radar, Bonnie Ross, 343 Studio Head, supported O'Connor by saying that Halo 6 takes precedent from Halo 3, ODST and Halo, Reach "fictional foundation". Microsoft is confident to have looked beyond Halo 6 in terms of plot development.

BitBag.com predicted that personal character back stories will most likely take center stage in the Halo 6 plot as heroes rise to fight against Cortana - one of many conflicts highlighted in Halo 5. More plans for Locke also appear securing his return for the next Halo installments.

The team is meticulously developing and planning all facets concerning Master Chief, as stated in WhatCulture. "That process could change the story but we know what's going to happen in the next game, and we kind of know what's going to happen to the Master Chief ultimately," Frank O' Connor said.

Halo 6 is initially the last installment of the Reclaimer Trilogy but it was decided on 2013 to go beyond three installments to a full-on saga. "While we originally said trilogy, we've actually expanded this to more of a saga, so we don't want to limit the Reclaimer story within a trilogy," Microsoft said.

Beyond Halo 6, O'Connor has likened the whole Halo series's "staying power" to big franchises such as "Star Wars" and "Spider-Man," as stated in GameSpot. A reassuring feature for Halo fans because after all, Halo is the cream of the crop of the Microsoft franchise with more than 65 million copies sold.

"It's our biggest exclusive franchise," Phil Spencer said in an interview about Halo 6. "There's no doubt about that."
