Star Fox Zero Review: Nintendo Launches Game For Wii U

Star Fox Zero Review: Nintendo Launches Game For Wii U

Nintendo had teased before that they were considering bringing back the Star Fox franchise for the Wii U system. The news made diehard fans really excited of the possibility of getting their hands on the beloved games and they definitely had high hopes. Now that the company has launched Star Fox Zero, the game was welcomed with mixed reactions from players.

After Wii U's unsatisfactory reviews, Nintendo used the Star Fox franchise in an effort to boost up the demand for the console. While the anticipation was high, it seems like Fire Fox Zero failed to impress most fans compared to other Star Fox entries, according to Nintendo Enthusiast.

The site revealed the struggles of the game in its early sales in Japan, but while it obviously underperformed after it launched, it is still too soon to say if the game can manage to make an impact and for the sales to finally pick up in Japan and North America.

Gaming Bolt reported that Nintendo didn't achieve the continuity of the Star Fox franchise. After fans have completed Star Fox 64, they expected Star Fox Zero to be much more improved and different. As it turns out, the highly-anticipated game has the same old story but with new controls.

Instead of moving on to a new adventure, Star Fox Zero re-tells the original, basic Star Fox story. Just like in Star Fox, Star Fox 64 and Star Fox 64 3D, the storyline circles around the team's battles in the Lylat Wars and their encounter with Andross. After dealing with the same concept for the fourth time now, fans are understandably disappointed that Nintendo is not delivering anything new. In the end, loyal fans are still going to try Star Fox Zero and some might actually enjoy it as much as they did with the other entries.
