Samsung Galaxy S7 Active Release Date & Price: Top 5 Specs & Features to Watch Out For [Rumors]

Pictures of the alleged Samsung Galaxy S7 Active have made rounds online, catching the attention of those on the lookout for such device. To date, the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge are proving to be the best in the Korean tech giant's S-lineup, but a performance-centered handset of their kind is certainly something else to look forward to.

The latest leak comes from Vietnamese blog SamsungViet, which showcases the familiar rugged aesthetic among Active variants. The images suggest a plastic body and rubber build, Mashable notes. According to the outlet, the purported smartphone will likely be another AT&T exclusive, just like the earlier Galaxy S6 Active.

Samsung is yet to provide official word regarding the rumored smartphone, but speculations peg appearance to be anytime soon. Considering the difference in price between the Galaxy S6 and S6 Active, the Galaxy S7 Active will not be much more expensive than the standard flagship, Phone Arena writes.

Here are five things touted to pack in the new Active handset:

1. Snapdragon 820

The Galaxy S7 Active is believed to run on Snapdragon 820 supported by 4GB of RAM, Android Authority notes, putting it at par with its standard model. The Galaxy S6 Active, on the other hand, came with the Exynos 7420 chipset under its hood.

2. 12MP Main Camera

The Active handset is speculated to sport 12MP and 5MP cameras at its back and front, respectively. This will be similar to those of the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge.

3. 5.2-Inch Display

A 5.2-inch QHD display (2560 x 1440 pixels) is expected in the new Active smartphone. The Galaxy S7 sports a 5.1-inch screen, while its Edge sibling owns 5.5 inches.

4. 3,600mAh Battery

As expected, the alleged device will sport a battery upgrade. This is pegged from at least 3,600mAh, Gotta Be Mobile writes, which comes as a clear upgrade from the Galaxy S7's 3,000mAh powerhouse.

5. Greater Water-Resistance?

If it is indeed the so-called Samsung Poseidon, the Galaxy S7 Active could have greater water-resistance, Digital Trends predicts. The current flagship has an IP68 certification which allows it to be submerged at 1.5 meters for a duration of 30 minutes.
