WhatsApp Is Now Available In Desktop: App To Appear In Both Mac OS and Windows?

Popular messaging tool, WhatsApp, finally gave in! A desktop version is set to appear for both Mac and Windows, following an earlier web beta version. WhatsApp gained its popularity as a messenger application that was later acquired by Facebook.

Mobile is not enough anymore. According to Gizmodo, WhatsApp is compatible on any computer with Windows 8 or higher operating system. Same can be said for Apple users with OS 10.9 and up systems. Avid users need not fret as old WhatsApp messages can be synced through the QR code in a snap.

Following the likes of Viber and Skype, Mashable reported that WhatsApp for desktop is built in a covert way to make it easier to use even in the workplace or during idle hours in school. This version is still as user-friendly as its mobile application counterpart and works better with WiFi connectivity to avoid crunching off data.

It looks like a pretty calculated move for the WhatsApp developers as it recorded a ballpark number of one billion users, to date. However, it is uncertain that it will receive the same amount of download patronage for the said desktop version.

Based on the Inquistr report, WhatsApp for Desktop promises better typing shortcuts and faster processing speed that will completely alter and consume less time for the users. In addition to putting great priority to users, document sharing is also available on the desktop platform. The desktop version also relies on the mobile application so users should keep their WhatsApp mobile online.

People are also questioning the purpose of releasing a desktop version. In the same report, simple synchronization of WhatsApp messages across gadgets is not the real purpose. "WhatsApp" reiterates that the desktop version is merely an added component to the experience of using its already-viable mobile form.

So a piece of advice for the "WhatsApp" folks: stay online so you and your friends will always know what's up.
