'Fallout 4: Far Harbor' DLC Release Date, New Gameplay, Area, Storyline Details

Bethesda previously released the “Automatron” DLC closed beta in March 2016. However, not a lot of details came out because of the non-disclosure agreement between the game developer and testers.

Recently, more news about “Far Harbor” surfaced, indicating that the DLC will be more story-oriented compared to its predecessor. In the upcoming version, players get to solve a new case with main protagonist, Nick Valentine.

GameSpot revealed that according to Will Shen, lead designer of “Far Harbor,” the DLC will bring gamers to a place with new stories and new experiences. Shen shared that “Far Harbor” is the biggest landmass that they have ever created for an add-on. The high-level area is full of danger, mystery and a new conflict among the townsfolk, namely The Children of Atom and the Synths.

Lead designer Matt Carofano hinted that the New England environment of the game will add more rugged terrain. Lead producer Phil Nelson also teased that the new DLC story will focus on a search for a young woman and a secret colony of synths. Players will go off the coast of Maine to the mysterious island of Far Harbor. The island experienced higher levels of radiation, thereby evolving into a more feral world. Far Harbor is the post-apocalyptic take of Bar Harbor, the most popular tourist site in Maine.

According to Kotaku, the screenshots, which are no longer available at present, were posted on Imgur, a file hosting site, which provided a number of features in “Far Harbor.” Included are the mechanic “skill checks,” a Harpoon Gun, and a new vault. It is still unconfirmed whether these elements will actually come out in the actual DLC.

One player uploaded the “Far Harbor” DLC itself on Nexus, a modding site. Players who were able to spot the whole “Fallout 4” add-on could acquire it. About 800 individuals were able to download the DLC before it was removed.

Robin Scott, owner of Nexus Mods, said that the mod was taken down because Bethesda asked them to. The DLC contained copyrighted material that was uploaded without getting permission from the original creator, Bethesda. Scott continued that such actions are a flagrant violation of their clear and strict site policies.

The “Fallout 4” DLC pass costs $50, while “Far Harbor” will be priced at $20. “Fallout 4: Far Harbor” is set to launch on May 19, 2016. More updates and details are expected soon.
