iPhone 7 Might Go Completely Wireless

No official announcement has sprung from Apple yet, but the presumed iPhone 7 continues to crawl the Internet grapevine, and it's exciting to dwell on the speculation that it will actually end up wireless. Meaning, forget the cords.

Apparently, the Cupertino tech giant just hired experts from a startup that works on contactless, wireless charging. The Verge unearths this information, discovering that two former uBeam engineers are hired by Apple in the last four months. These people are noted to have expertise in wireless charging and ultrasonic technology.

This detail brings us back to Bloomberg's report at the tail of January, which revealed that Apple has been preparing to unleash wireless charging tech in its 2017 mobile devices. Citing information from anonymous sources, the outlet noted that the company explores cutting-edge systems that would put future iPhones and iPads ahead in the game.

Of course, it's already known that the Apple Watch employs wireless charging, just like some smartphones built by Samsung and other manufacturers. But it must be noted that this happens through contact, Phone Arena points, and the latest rumor we have suggests otherwise.

Another interesting tip that's always been around is the exclusion of the standard headphone jack which, when real, gives us an iPhone 7 that almost runs wireless. Bluetooth-run headphones could instead be used, The Week UK says.

Expected to launch in September, the iPhone 7 is believed to sport a 4.7-inch screen, QHD to 4K display, hexa-core A10 chip, 3GB of RAM, optical image stabilization in both 12 and 5MP cameras (rear and front), water-resistance and iOS 10 support. Its price is speculated to start similar to the iPhone 6s, which currently sells from $649.

Then again, these are rumors best taken with healthy pinches of salt. Until we hear from Apple, iPhones will still need wires to live.

How convenient will it be for you to charge the iPhone wire-free?
