Apple Latest News & Update: Tech Giant May Turn To LG For Dual-lens Camera Module Needs?

Apple is expected to unveil its iPhone 7 or iPhone Pro this coming in the coming months though there seems to be a bit of a problem if the call of Chris Chan of Nomura Securities is accurate.

This has something to do with an alleged feature the next Apple flagship will carry the dual-lens camera. Though the 2016 version of the iPhone is not expected to don much features, the camera is obviously one of the few bright spots to expect.

But the problem is that primary supplier Sony may be having difficulties supplying the said camera modules and such has led Chang to speculate that Apple may divert its attention to another company in LG.

“We think Sony may not be able to deliver its full share of dual cameras to Apple due to: (1) lower-than-expected yield, and (2) damage to its production facility from the April earthquake in Kumamoto,” bares Chang through an issued note to investors with regards to the larger sized iPhone due this September.

There is growing belief that the 5.5-inch iPhones will be armed with new dual-lens cameras, something that was originally brought out in the open by reliable KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo a month back.

Kuo mentioned that Apple will be unveiling two 5.5-inch iPhone 7 Plus models with one offering an iSight rear-facing camera and the other with a dual-lens camera. The 4.7-inch iPhone 7 model on the other hand is likely to stick with the single-lens camera.

The emphasis to dual-lens is believed to be tied up with Apple’s acquisition of LinX technology. LinX could hint at the possible bump in DSLR-quality photos and may include a number of benefits.

Right now it remains to be seen if Chang’s forecast will come true and development on that could come out in the following months.
