iPhone 7 Release Date, Specs, News & Update: Production Plates Show No Signs Of Smart Connector [RUMORS[

New renders show no Smart Connector in latest iPhone 7 related roundup

The iPhone 7 continues to stay in headlines with leaks popping up left and write on what the next Apple flagship will have and not have once it debuts in September.

Baidu has gotten hold of photos that were said to have originated from a Chinese Apple supplier showing CNC machining plates that are seen as the part tied up with the finishing process for the iPhone 7’s aluminum casing. The photos included some tooling dimensions for the said Apple flagship.

In the leaked diagrams, there seems to be two tools aimed at a 4.7-inch variant and another for the 5.5-inch model. As far as the smaller variant is concerned, it shows off a larger aperture which could be tied up to an upgraded iSight camera, a key upgrade from the Apple iPhone 6s.

The design modification shows a pill-like opening that somehow aligns with the presence of a dual-camera setup along with some small holes that could be made for the device’s True Tone flash and a single microphone.

The integration of dual-lens camera has been in the air for now, something we did touch on previously. But aside from that, there is also the Smart Connector angle, something that rumors hinted could be included as well.

Based on the image, there was no reference of the iPad Pro’s connection protocol present in the upcoming iPhone 7 flagship though the three-hole port is something that needs more clarification.

The Smart Connector is another rumored key feature that cropped up in leaked chassis prototypes as early as April though it has somehow been integrated inconsistently.

While that connectivity option seems less than promising, the dual-lens camera module is something worth digging into. It remains to be seen if the upgraded camera module will be present in both variants as Apple tries to offer something different for a device widely expected to come out with minimal modifications this Fall.
