Sony Accidentally Reveals Xperia E5

Talk about a possible Sony budget phone has been in the rumor mill lately and many were under the impression that this had to do with the Sony Xperia E5. It was something linked to a code number (Sony F3311) that was spotted on GFXBench, but an ‘accidental’ social media revelation has upped the hype even more.

The press shots popped up from Sony’s official accounts recently with the Xperia Blog and GSM Arena capturing them. The image shows an attractive plastic-based device that is closely associated with the Xperia X.

Noticeably absent from the photo was a fingerprint sensor and the shutter button though the embedded date (June 5) could be an indication that this variant may be its official release date.

With the post taken down, it remains to be seen if folks will indeed see the budget-friendly Sony Xperia E5. The only thing that interested buyers will have to work with for now are the specs that came with the GFX spotting.

Among the features revealed include a 4.6-inch display with 720p resolution, a MediaTek MT6735 processor, 1.5 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage, a 16 MP main camera and 5 MP front-facing selfie shooter.

The specs seem to hint at Sony vying with the Moto G4 Play though the company could end up losing this one, particularly on the pricing standpoint. The Moto G4 Play is the cheapest in the Motorola G4 family and the chances of Sony going up against that is not promising.

Either way, such has spurred up the attention and now fans are eager to see if there is any viability of seeing a device that could append its current line. Sony has so far unveiled primarily X devices this year that include Xperia XA, Xperia X, Xperia X Performance, and the Xperia XA Ultra.

Will Sony append that list with a Sony Xperia E5?
