Microsoft Surface Phone Release Date, Specs, News & Update: Imminent Smartphone Coming Out In Three Kinds? [RUMORS]

Detailed Surface Phone Rumors surface from China micro-blogging site

The Microsoft Surface Phone is not yet off the shelf and right now many are still eagerly awaiting if the company indeed plans to come out with one. This is despite a recent move which saw Microsoft deal their Nokia feature phone division to Hon Hai/ Foxconn Technology Group and HMD Global in a $350 million deal in a previous report.

Word of a potential Microsoft Surface Phone has resurfaced and comes from Chinese micro-blogging site Weibo. The latest word somehow append the previous ones already out in the market though the recent ones take it up notch with more interesting details.

That includes the possible release date which will be by the first quarter of 2017 as well as the specs it will come out with. That includes a Snapdragon 830 chipset which can be supported by Windows 10 Mobile.

Additionally, rumor has it that the Microsoft Surface Phone will be available in three variants, one for general consumers, one for smartphone enthusiasts and the last aimed for business use.

Getting into the specs, the general consumer edition will reportedly come out with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage, the second one carrying 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage and the last (business version) to have the highest specs of them all with 8 GB of RAM and 500 GB of internal storage.

As for pricing, the Microsoft Surface Phone will reportedly carry a hefty price tag of $900 (based on current exchange rates) for the high end versions (second and third editions) though this needs proper backing first from Microsoft.

Aside from the sale of the Nokia feature phone division, another thing worth noting is that one tied up with the company shutting down its consumer phone division. Apparently the company is scaling back and about 1,850 employees could be left jobless.

Then again, there is a chance that these moves could be redirected to the Microsoft Surface Phone as the company tries to return to the smartphone fray.
