Samsung Phones With Bendable Display Rumors Heat Up!

Samsung has been linked to rumors involving a foldable display but now critics are widely convinced that such is an imminent feature for the consumer market to expect in 2017.

Codenamed “Project Valley," we did post previously on the matter of Samsung offering foldable phones where they will be part of the five flagships set for release in 2017. In fact, graphics from Patentlymobile.com have spurred up on what folks can expect, including a port that would allow the device to be charged even when folded along with possible fingerprint and iris scanner security measures.

“This product could be a game-changer if Samsung successfully comes up with a user interface suitable for bendable screens,” said Lee Seung Woo, an analyst for IBK Securities Co. in Seoul. “Next year is a probable scenario. Their biggest obstacle was related to making transparent plastics and making them durable, which seems resolved by now.”

If Samsung can indeed pull it off and debut the rumoured foldable phones by the Mobile World Congress 2017, there is no question that such a phone will spark a whole new wave of design possibilities and entice rivals to follow their lead.

The list would include chief rival Apple who is also expected to shift from an LCD to OLED display with its iPhone 8 offering next year. Such was emphasized as well by Woo as Samsung tries to stay ahead of the smartphone niche.

One of the phones will reportedly be able to fold in half similar to a makeup compact. The other seems a bit more interesting as it starts from a 5-inch screen and then comes with the ability to transform into a tablet.

While the logic on the Samsung foldable display is exciting, one thing that may be of concern is the amount of drain it would have on the device’s battery.

That angle may have been answered as well with word that the displays will be thinner specialized displays, covering the issue of battery life and mobile phone use.
