iPhone 8 Latest News, Release Date & Rumors: 2017 Apple Flagship To Sport Wraparound Display? More Details Here

The iPhone 8 is not expected until next year but for most Apple fans, it is the one that deserves more attention than the planned iPhone 7 coming out this September.

The iPhone 7 is not expected to make a big splash considering the changes it carries will hardly be dramatic. It will be technically a thinner version of the iPhone 6s along with some minor improvements covering performance, storage and image-capturing.

Apple knows that such will affect their sales forecast as they preserve the key changes to the iPhone 8 in 2017. Aside from the expected facelift, the latest on the iPhone 8 is that the redesigned model may come with an interesting an all-glass wrap around display.

Wraparound Display to highlight iPhone 8?

The iPhone 8 is expected to have a new display in tow though it was initially perceived to be an OLED display. This would allow Apple to graduate from its traditional TFT-LCD displays as it tries to offer better resolution displays starting in 2017.

A recent patent filed via Patently Apple adds a bit of twist to that. The patent was filed back in 2011 and was approved just recently.

As posted on Value Walk, the device will find a transparent housing that would have a flexible display from within. If true, the display will allegedly be capable of displaying content via any angle – including the sides of the device.

Apple’s jab at Samsung’s Curved Display?

If true, it should be fair to assume that this may be Apple’s potential jab at Samsung’s touted curved screens for its Samsung Galaxy S7 as previously reported here on Game N Guide.

The same curved edges will reportedly be present for the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 7 this August.

While the iPhone 8 is expected to come with a major redesign, this patent is nothing more than a rumor for now. But with a more than a year to go before it comes out, seeing Apple tweak things a bit should be something worth wishing for.
