Apple didn’t touch on the MacBook Pro 2016 at the recently held WWDC 2016 and right now many are in the dark on what it could possibly have to offer.
In a previous post, we did report on those spy photos which showed the OLED touch bar which took the place of the old function keys. That image stirred up rumors that the next MacBook Pro 2016 could possibly make use touch-based function keys while also giving users more workspace.
Metal hinges may offer more flexibility to MacBook Pro 2016
Aside from that, there are the new hinges that reportedly come from Ampenol, the same company that supplies the part for Microsoft’s Surface Pro tablets. If Apple is indeed adapting the same hinges, it could signal towards better flexibility and thinner MacBook Pro 2016 and MacBook Air 2016 happening before the year comes to a close per DigiTimes.
Two MacBook Pro 2016 variants
There will reportedly be two MacBook Pro 2016 variants, a 13-inch and 15-inch version out by the third quarter. If the scheduled holds, the Apple notebooks will come in time for a fourth quarter release.
As for the specs, KGI Securities Ming-Chi Kuo forecasts that the MacBook Pro 2016 variants will be ultra thin and possibly armed with Intel’s Skylake processors with the higher models possibly armed with AMD 400-series Polaris graphics chips per Mac Rumors.
For connectivity, the MacBook Pro 2016 will come with a Thunderbolt 3 port and a USB Type-C port, which should allow users to pair it with other devices. For security, Touch ID fingerprint sensor could be integrated as well.
Will the MacBook Pro 2016 have enough to compete against the Surface Pro?
Given the major design changes for the MacBook Pro 2016, it will be interesting if the efforts would be enough to pull abreast with Microsoft.
