'Ghostbusters' Video Game Will Arrive With New Movie in Special Bundle

Activision and Sony Pictures are bringing a special treat for fans of the video game franchise, as the Ghostbusters Ultimate Bundle will include extra DLC, two dashboard themes, and a code to access a copy of the highly anticipated upcoming film, "Ghostbusters" starring Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones as the supernatural-fighting titular characters.

According to Game Spot, the Ultimate Bundle will be for PlayStation 4 exclusively, and can be purchased trough the PlayStation store for $65. It will also be available for Xbox One via the Xbox Games Store in select regions only.

The Ghostbusters Ultimate Bundle will include the standalone "Ghostbusters" video game, a DLC with four classic character suits and a bonus trap based on the original film, a code to access the digital copy of the upcoming "Ghostbusters" movie for delivery possibly after the movie has been shown in theaters, and two special dashboard themes inspired by the game and the film. Gamers who preorder the standard $50 version of "Ghostbusters" from the Xbox Store, PlayStation Store, and Steam will also get a copy of the DLC.

"Ghostbusters" is directed by Paul Feig and produced by Ivan Reitman and Amy Pascal, with a story by Feig and Katie Dippold. To be released on July 15, the film has received intense criticism since the first trailer debuted, mainly because of the all-women cast. Feig has been vocal about his defense of the movie, saying that the criticism is mostly "misogynistic."

"I just want it to be the new normal, where it doesn’t matter anymore," Feig told the New York Times. "The whole 'chick-flick' idea is an excuse for guys not to have to see something. It’s what I consider to be a derogatory title."

Feig goes on to say that "It’s not fair, that in 2016 we should be in this situation where this is standard...There’s so much gender diversity and parity, in other fields. Here it just hasn’t happened and that’s ridiculous."

"Ghostbusters" opens in theaters on July 15, while the video game will be released on July 12.
