Samsung Releases Gear 360 VR Camera To The US; Up For Grabs For Only $349.99 [VIDEO]

Samsung finally introduces its Gear 360 VR camera to the United States. The South Korean tech company announced on June 22 that the gear will be initially available at the VidCon convention in Anaheim, California and it will be sold for only $349.99. However, the sale will only last for a limited time so interested buyers were advised to grab it early.

The Gear 360 is a high-resolution camera that was specially created for storytellers. It will allow users to make their own 360-degree videos for VR headsets and VR content for the latest Samsung Galaxy phones. The camera simply provides solutions for every facet of virtual reality production.

In a press release, US Samsung Electronics chief marketing officer Marc Mathieu said, "We want to bring the power of VR technology directly to the people. To help creators learn and perfect the art of VR storytelling, we've built an entire VR ecosystem that pushes beyond the frame and empowers them to develop unforgettable, immersive stories, and inspires us all to do the same."

The innovative camera made its way to Singapore and South Korea tech markets in April. As for the release in US stores, it will happen later this year but Samsung did not mention any specific date.

Samsung Gear 360 features great specifications which include two 180-degree cameras and each has f/2.0 aperture lens for faster shutter speed. It can capture clear 30 MP still pictures and 3840x1920 resolution videos which can be easily saved to a micro SD card.

Moreover, its body is water and dust proof so it is safe to use anywhere. The gear is powered by 1350 mAh removable battery and fitted with micro USB port for charging. The VR camera is also equipped with PMOLED display and control buttons so it can be used independently.

Meanwhile, Samsung opens its Creators program which will offer seminars and classes for VR filmmaker aspirants. This scheme will also organize competitions to motivate independent directors to produce VR contents using Samsung products, USA Today reported.
