Our heroic "Ratchet & Clank" tale of galactic proportions starts with humanoid cat-badger protagonist Ratchet as he builds a ship in order to leave the planet Veldin and explore the galaxy.
Meanwhile, XJ-0461, a supposedly defective Sentry-bot, accidentally discovers Chairman Drek's wicked plot to take over the world in "Ratchet & Clank" and make it the new home of the Blarg race.
XJ-0461 is caught and held as a witness but he escapes and crashed on Veldin, where he meets Ratchet in "Ratchet & Clank."
Ratchet names the little robot Clank and the two set off on a quest to enlist Captain Qwark and the Galactic Rangers so they can put an end to Drek's evil scheme!
