New 'Sonic the Hedgehog' Game Coming In 2017? Possible Release Date, Features & Other Details

“Sonic The Hedgehog” is another iconic game character that ranks along the likes of “Super Mario” and “Mega Man”, one of the memorable ones for those around in the 80s and 90s. But like the classic games, “Sonic” will be given a reboot and all that happens in 2017.

Sonic Team development group head Takashi Iizuka spilled the beans on Sonic at a recent 25th Anniversary Party at Tokyo, Joypolis but details on the rebooted “Sonic The Hedgehog” game will get more into detail next month in San Diego, Gematsu reports.

The announcement comes a bit of a surprise though the word out is that plans for the new “Sonic The Hedgehog” game may have already been in the works for some time now. The Sonic fanbase have reportedly kept tabs on the development of the game and all of it will finally come to fruition in 2017 per Screen Rant.

Finally going solo again?

“Sonic the Hedgehog” never technically disappeared, at least not entirely. He made cameo appearances on other games such as “Super Smash Bros” and other Mario-related video games through the years.

But with a whole new era to try and conquer, it will be interesting how “Sonic” will be embraced. Sonic continues to be a familiar character on TV and merchandise items but a successful reboot will depend on what the game developers were able to come up with.

Like most new games out in the open, it will depend on the graphics, game-play and so on. “Sonic” does hold one up with his popularity but the gaming experience still needs to draw the interest of the gamers.

Sonic springboard

Though it wasn’t mentioned, the new “Sonic the Hedgehog” game stands to boost the stock of the franchise once more. “Sonic” is already a familiar fixture in the animation scene though there are rumors he could be getting his own big screen appearance.
