Fox's Biggest Animated Shows Form Awesome Card-Collecting Game

"Family Guy," "American Dad!," "Bob's Burgers," "Futurama," and "King of the Hill" are making more mark in a recently announced card-collecting game from Fox and the GameStop subsidiary, Kongregate.

Fox Digital Entertainment in partnership with Kongregate is bringing some of the most popular animated TV series into one mobile game. The studio and mobile games publisher announced the release of "Animation Throwdown: The Quest for Cards" during the third quarter of 2016.

Kongregate President and co-founder Emily Greer expressed her excitement about the project in a statement posted in the company's official website. She said that the new game would be the very first time anyone has attempted to bring the five animated TV series into a single media and that it would definitely be a hit for fans of the shows.

As the name implies, "The Quest of Cards" gives players an opportunity to play as their favorite characters in the Fox shows and create their own decks of cards. According to Game Spot, the game's mechanics are somewhat "Hearthstone-like" while IGN believes it would be "like all the other card games." Meanwhile, Fox Digital Entertainment Executive Vice President Rick Phillips revealed that the players of the game will be able to choose from a wide array of characters to act as their avatars such as Peter Griffin, Bob Belcher, Hank Hill, Leela, among others.

The "Animation Throwdown: The Quest of Cards" is being developed to be released for both mobile phones running on iOS and Android. However, Kongregate promised that it would also be made available on other platforms such as kongregate.com.

Aside from Fox, Kongregate is also working with Chicago's Synapse Games and San Francisco's Chinzilla Games, both of which are experienced in card-collecting games. Further details of "Animation Throwdown: The Quest of Cards" have yet to be released but the game is believed to reflect some similarities to the "Family Guy" game "The Quest for Stuff" where it got its name from.
