Behind the Scenes of Assassin's Creed 3: Episode Two (Watch it Here!)

Ubisoft has released the second of its 4-part documentary series, "Inside Assassin's Creed III: Episode Two." This second episode, entitled "Combat, Weapons, and Tactics" gives us a look at just that. Check it out below!

To summarize what the development team, weapon experts and historical masters are all trying to say, is that the American Revolution was rough. Says Gary Bohannon of the fraternal group Sons of the American Revolution, "We've all seen the paintings of the Revolution and death is glorified, death is angelic, but it wasn't that way on the battlefield. It was a brutal conflict."

Lead Designer Steven Masters: "These armies were filled with different types of weapons. You have everything from muskets, you have grenadiers, guys with boarding axes..."

And Connor will be able to utilize all those weapons. Additionally, he's also packing his own arsenal of brand new weaponry. "Connor's favorite weapon is the tomahawk, obviously super deadly in hand to hand combat. Also the bow and arrow, it fits with his native heritage."

And the most bad ass piece of weaponry, the rope dart, lets Connor do his best Scorpion impression, impaling Redcoats with the dart, and dragging them in close for an up close beating.

Ubisoft has also completely revamped the combat system. Gone are the days of Ezio's spinning backhands, Connor handles more like an MMA fighter. Even without a weapon, Connor can quickly disarm an opponent, and put them down with a flying knee before they even know what hit them, or, slam them right down onto the unforgiving cobblestone streets.

Creative Director Alex Hutchinson: "We wanted the skill in the combat in the game to be about transitioning from character to character, choosing the right moves, performing them correctly, allows you to basically mow your way through large numbers of people, if you're good enough, without stopping."

The next behind the scenes episode will provide a little more insight into the new protagonist, Connor, who the staff refers to as "the hero behind the war."
