New 'Heroes of the Storm' Video Gives First Look Into New Characters On 'Diablo' And 'Warcraft' [Watch]

A new "Heroes of the Storm" video featured new content from the multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) by Blizzard. The footage introduced two characters who will appear in the new game.

The "Heroes of the Storm" video showed an initial glimpse of one character from "Warcraft" and "Diablo," respectively.

Gul'dan is the character from the strategy game, who seems to have the Fear ability that affects enemies within a small area.

Auriel is the character from the role-playing game, showed executing an attack in a straight line that stuns and knocks back enemies, reminiscent of Diablo's charge.

According to GameSpot, both characters had new skins as well additional skins. There were also additional skins provided for current characters.

The "Heroes of the Storm" video also showed Li Ming's Striker new skin, which made her appear like a volleyball player and came with new ability effects.

The Spellbreaker Johanna and Mystic Kingdoms Arthas were also featured. The game will also have five new mounts, such as a robotic wolf, red and fiery horse versions and battle beast.

VentureBeat interviewed "Heroes of the Storm" senior producer KaeoMilker regarding the process of creating new characters and which ones are requested by gamers the most.

Milker described how adding personality to familiar characters from their classic titles was fun. He said that the game is an interesting playground that provides them the rare opportunity to bring anything from any Blizzard IP ever together.

He added that they are also allowed to do weird things with the various characters and thought that they could execute on new heroes every three to four weeks.

Milker said that currently, Kel'thuzad is one of the most requested characters for "Heroes of the Storm." They also received requests for the Lost Vikings earlier and they made them into three unique independently controlled characters in the game.

They are still bringing heroes in and making their own versions of them that will fit the upcoming MOBA, at the same time maintaining the elements that made the characters so popular in the first place.

"Heroes of the Storm" was released on June 2, 2015 and focuses on five-versus-five online matches on Battle.net, Blizzard's online gaming service.

Players can try various maps with different side objectives, using heroes from the different franchises of the game developer. The main objective of the game is to conquer the Nexus with a team.

More updates and details on "Heroes of the Storm" are expected soon.
