Console-Smartphone Hybrid PGS Brings Your Favorite PC Games To Your Hands; See Prototype, Early Promo

The new PGS is a fusion between a gaming console and smartphone, allowing gamers to play their favorite PC games anywhere. The device is still in its developmental stages, although it shows a lot of promise.

PGS, which means portable gaming system, features a slider form factor with two screens. The screen at the top is bigger compared to the bottom display, similar to the Nintendo 3DS. There will reportedly be two variants of the PGS to release, with varying specifications.

PhoneArena stated that in terms of controls, the PGS features a standard set of buttons, although it has telescopic control sticks.

These are different from previous slider designs because there are real analog sticks that pop up when pressed.

According to the developer, these are mechanical and non-motorized. They reportedly found it a challenge to develop the controls.

The dual-boot is one of the device's top features. It has both Windows 10 X64, as well as Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The two variants are the PGS Hardcore and the PGS Lite.

The Hardcore model features a 5.7-inch 1440p AMOLED display, an Intel Atom X7 quad core CPU, clocked at 2.56 GHz, 8GB of RAM, 128 GB SSD and a 6120mAh battery. It has an 8-megapixel front camera and a 5-megapixel rear shooter.

It has USB 3.0 support, a microHDMI port and allows microSD cards of up to 512GB. The battery is said to charge up to 70% in just 40 minutes.

The Lite model has a 5.5-inch 720p IPs display, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, a 5-megapixel front camera and a 1-megapixel rear shooter, a 4080 battery and the same Intel Atom X7 CPU and Cherry Trail processor.

The two variants include a fanless passive cooling system to ensure that these do not suffer from heat issues.

According to 10Safe, the PGS has Dinput and Xinput support, providing more capabilities in terms of controls and allowing users to connect external controllers like a keyboard and mouse.

The various control capabilities and support actually transforms the device into a less powerful PC. The device can reportedly run various titles that are quite similar to hit games on PC.

Currently, the PGS is trying to raise funds on Kickstarter to launch. The initial goal was $100,000, although the project now has over $200,000 in pledges.

The model is expected to become available in March 2017. More updates and details are expected soon.
