'Lincoln' Movie Teaser Released (Watch It)

The Toronto International Film Festival recently screened a few Oscar contenders like "Argo," "Cloud Atlas," "Silver Linings Playbook" and "The Master."

Now, we can add one more to that list: Steven Spielberg's "Lincoln," which released its first teaser trailer for the movie, starring Daniel Day-Lewis and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

The teaser gives us a glimpse of Day-Lewis with a voiceover that reads the Gettysburg Address in a Southerner accent as the scenes of Civil War play over and Day-Lewis's back profile is shown. The person behind the voiceover is not known.

The teaser also shows the dates for the world trailer premiere, Sept. 13, which is followed by a special Google Hangout presentation with Spielberg and Gordon-Levitt.

The movie will also star Sally Field, Tommy Lee Jones, James Spader, John Hawkes, Michael Stuhlbarg, David Strathairn, Walton Goggins, Tim Blake Nelson, Bruce McGill, Jackie Earle Haley, Lee Pace and Jared Harris.

The movie is based on Doris Kearns Goodwin's book "Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln."

The story focuses on Lincoln, his policies that united the nation, abolished slavery, and ended the Civil War.

"Tony Kushner wrote the script -- it's a really smart script. It's not just a feel-good bio pic. I mean it feels great, I think it feels better because it actually delves into something. It's not just patriotism and icon worship. It really examines him as a human being and all of his imperfections and both his virtues and his flaws. It is a fascinating script," Gordon-Levitt told Moviefone. "I can't wait to see it. It is such a brave take. Steven Spielberg, he's the biggest filmmaker in the world. There would be a lot pressure on him to make a more watered-down version of the story and I think it's so brave of him to have really done something provocative and interesting."

"Lincoln" will hit theatres Nov. 16.
