iPad Mini 5 News and Rumors: Possible Price For All Models

We know that the next generation of the iPad Mini, the iPad Mini 5, will probably be revealed to the world in September of this year.

Today, MacWorld UK reports on rumors of the new iPad Mini's price range, and it's likely that Apple is dropping a version of the device from this generation's lineup. According to MacWorld UK, the iPad Mini 4's 16 GB, Wifi-only model cost $399, and it's highly likely that this version with the smallest storage will no longer be part of the iPad Mini 5 lineup, as increasing memory demands are starting to deem just 16 GB inadequate.

If the iPad Mini 5's lowest end begins with a 32 GB version, then it's possible that the cheapest iPad mini will cost around $450 instead of $399, should Apple find $399 too cheap for the very base model. The rest of the models would then follow at 64 GB (at around $500), topping out at 128 GB (at around $600).

Among other things, the most-rumored feature of the upcoming iPad Mini 5 is the 3D Touch screens that are pressure-sensitive, already present on the current generation iPhones. The rumored elimination of the 3.5mm earphone jack also applies to the iPad Mini 5—if it pushes through, then we're likely to see new Lightning earphones come with the device as well.

As for the iPad Mini 5's possible release date, the aforementioned September 2016 possibility of a release was predicted from last year's similar September release of the iPad Mini 4. However, MacWorld UK also reports that should Apple decide for a total overhaul of their full iPad lineup, including a new iPad Air, then it's also possible that these could be revealed in a standalone event in October.

As always, we'll update you as soon as we get new information on the new iPad Mini.
