The Boston Celtics snagged one the second big name during 2016 NBA Free Agency but latest rumors indicate that club president Danny Ainge may be targeting Blake Griffin for the coming season.

Los Angeles Clippers star forward has been mentioned as a potential target in what could be a big NBA trade happening before the 2016-17 NBA season kicks off. The slam dunking forward played only 35 games last season due to a quad injury and a hand injury caused by an off-court issue.
After Blake Griffin’s melee with the team’s assistant equipment manager, rumors of a possible trade followed. Head coach Doc Rivers denied the allegations and made it clear that he was keeping his ‘big three’ intact. Rivers was referring to Griffin, Chris Paul and DeAndre Jordan.
LA Clippers plotting new course?
One thing that has hindered the Clippers is their knack for signing up aging veterans. Griffin is 27 but his subpar performance last season is seen as a reason behind the trade talks.
The Boston Celtics loom as a likely destination though the Clipper will want something in return for the all star forward. Word of the blockbuster trade was brought up by Sporting News.
The deal is reportedly still being sorted out and may involve a third team. Real GM hints that it could be the Sacramento Kings getting involved where the target would be Rudy Gay. Under the scenario, Gay will move over to the Clippers while Boston Celtics surrenders some draft picks for the deal to happen.
When healthy, Griffin has proven he can still be a force to reckon with. The problem is that he was hardly a factor last season and the Clippers may be looking to explore different and age-related options.
