'Star Wars Battlefront' Latest News & Update: Game Launches New Offline Mode, Death Star DLC Release Date, Details Announced

DICE, the developer of the "Star Wars Battlefront" game, recently announced that a new offline mode will become available in July 2016. There will also be a Death Star expansion for "Star Wars Battlefront" soon.

Gamers can play the two modes alone or via split screen using various difficulties.

EA revealed that the "Star Wars Battlefront" offline mode will be called Skirmish. Lead designer Dennis Brannvall said that the offline mode will provide players with the option to play against bots in a solo mission or with a companion using co-op split screen.

The offline capability will be available on console only. Furthermore, Skirmish in Star Wars Battlefront will feature two difficulty options for both Walker Assault and Fighter Squadron.

Brannvall continued that Skirmish will deliver a new way for players to enjoy "Star Wars Battlefront," considering the multiple locations in the game that are situated all over the galaxy.

In summer 2016, DICE will reportedly feature more in-game events for free and Hutt Contracts, which will bring new weapons and log-in reward privileges. Players can also see some of the Bespin content through the open trials.

The "Star Wars Battlefront" Death Star expansion will become available to season pass holders in September 2016.

The new content will feature new ground, space maps, Star Cards, weapons and a couple of heroes. One of the heroes is said to be someone whom gamers have been waiting for and is most likely one of the most famous faces in the saga.

GameSpot stated that "Star Wars Battlefront" has been a huge success since it launched in November 2015. 14 million copies of "Star Wars Battlefront" have been sold, becoming one of the bestselling games in the series.

The "Star Wars Battlefront" Death Star expansion is the third in the series, and a Star Wars Battlefront sequel is reportedly being developed by DICE and Motive Studios.

Aside from the "Star Wars Battlefront" sequel which is expected to release in 2017, there are several more Star Wars games being developed, which will all be published by EA.

Respawn is allegedly making a third-person action adventure Star Wars title. Visceral Games is working on a new action game to launch in 2018.

BioWare is developing "Star Wars: The Old Republic." Capital Games is working on "Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes, Criterion is said to be helping in the progress of an unnamed Star Wars project.

More updates and details on "Star Wars Battlefront" will be available at EA's Star Wars Panel livestream at Star Wars Celebration on July 16, 2016.
