‘Arrow’ Season 5 Air Date, Spoilers, News & Update: Katie Cassidy Officially Series Regular Across CW Shows

Katie Cassidy is officially back though she will not be limited to ‘Arrow’. Her new deal is similar to the one signed by John Barrowman (“Malcolm Merlin”) and Wentworth Miller (“Captain Cold”) meaning she will also appear on other shows like “Flash” and “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow” as previously reported here on Game N Guide.

Katie Cassidy’s character “Laurel Lance” aka “Black Canary” was killed off in “Arrow” season 5 though rumors of a possible return cropped up thanks to “Flash” time-altering move in the season 2 finale. There were rumors of her “Earth-2” counterpart entering the picture while others speculated behind a “false” death angle. It turns out that the former could be happening.

“Arrow” Season 5 flashbacks

According to TV Line, Cassidy will be appearing mostly on flashbacks. Stephen Amell bared that the “Arrow” season 5 opener will reveal what “Laurel” made “Oliver (Queen)” promise when she was at the hospital.

“It’s something that’s going to have a lasting impact not just in our season premiere, but over the next couple seasons of the show,” he said. “It’s going to be critical to whatever the legacy of our show is.”

Appearance on “Legends of Tomorrow” next?

As far as Cassidy’s character is concerned, she has already appeared on the “Flash” and of course “Arrow” per Screen Rant. So looking forward, the only other two shows are “Legends of Tomorrow” and maybe “Supergirl”.

“Legends of Tomorrow” has Laurel’s sister in the group (“Sara Lance” aka “White Canary” (Caity Lotz)) so it will be interesting how the sister’s will eventually meet up once more. Will she meet Laurel as “Black Canary” or as “Black Siren” of Earth-2?

Regardless, Katie Cassidy is officially back though it may not be in the same manner she was last remembered.

“Arrow” season 5 premieres on Oct. 5 while “Legends of Tomorrow” follows on Oct. 13.
