'Doctor Strange' Release Date, News & Update: Director Scott Derrickson Talks "Weirdness," Details of Post-production

Fans weren't the only ones who lost their minds during last weekend's San Diego Comic Con. "Doctor Strange" director Scott Derrickson, a self-proclaimed fanboy himself, admitted that he, too, had his mind blown when he laid his eyes on the new trailer for the film that debuted in Hall H, along with Marvel's other trailers and footage of "Guardians of the Galaxy."

Maybe it's Derrickson's inner fanboy that has also led him to work hard in taking the authenticity, and at times, "weirdness" of Marvel's "Doctor Strange" from page to screen. He shared to Collider that the visuals that fans may be familiar with in the comics have inspired the visuals that viewers will get to see in the film, once it comes out in November. Speaking of visual effects, the director admitted that they are currently hard at work to put the visual effects into the film which deadline is just a few months away.

"This is the movie where Marvel goes full weird," Derrickson told Comicbook.com. "That full weirdness is written in the Ditko images, the Jack Kirby images, the early 'Doctor Strange' comic book panels that are still to this day so mind blowing."

Fans would be also glad to know that "Doctor Strange" himself, Benedict Cumberbatch, seems to be adored by even viewers who are not fans of his from his work in "Sherlock." Derrickson admitted that among those who have already seen the unfinished film really adore the actor, which means that it was probably a smart move on Marvel's part to cast the actor in the role.

Another thing that's good to know is that Derrickson's original cut of the movie isn't much of a difference than the cut that is supposedly making its way to theaters. He admitted that he "shoots pretty specificially," so fans should expect a 120-minute film come November.

"Doctor Strange" stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Tilda Swinton, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Rachel McAdams, Benedict Wong, and Mads Mikkelsen, and will arrive on November 4.
