WWE Rumors 2016: Alberto Del Rio Could Opt Out This October

Alberto Del Rio’s return to the WWE was believed to be a big one though the Hispanic star hasn’t gotten much exposure since losing the United States title.

After a thundering return against John Cena, Del Rio’s stock has been plummeting. He has been cast in several storylines, the last of which was being part of the failed “League of Nations”. From there, he has been on thin ice with his appearances dipping.

Alberto Del Rio opting out?

The word out is that the WWE paid a hefty sum to get Del Rio back in the fold. The numbers were never disclosed but are believed to be enormous.

However, Del Rio is allegedly unhappy and could consider leaving the WWE once again. The Wrestling Observer reports that his contract includes an out clause which could happen anytime between September to October.

The reason for leaving is obvious. Del Rio is not happy with his role despite being paid a lucrative paycheck. In short, he wants to perform and be paid well.

In the event the Del Rio leaves, TNA, AAA and Lucha Underground are once again in the mix. Of the two, AAA and/or Lucha Underground loom to be wise choices. TNA has been plagued with financial issues which fails to satisfy one thing Del Rio would want.

“At the end of the day you can love what you do, but you have to be rewarded. If somebody wants to have me in their organization, they have to pay me, and there is no other place like WWE, which is a major league of progress and growth. TNA does not have the wherewithal as WWE does,” said Del Rio to the press in India.

A Del Rio departure seems a bit off right now particularly because the WWE recently split Raw and Smackdown. Del Rio was drafted by Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon for SmackDown Live so rumors of him leaving sound a bit premature.

The WWE is on the prowl for old talent so letting Del Rio may be an oversight. If not, the WWE may be trying to shave off some cash if they do allow Del Rio to walk.
