'Pokemon Go' Latest News & Update: Niantic Revokes Players' Legendaries To Preserve The Game's Integrity

After cracking down several third-party trackers and services that render inequality among "Pokemon Go" players, Niantic Labs is now revoking players' legendaries to provide more balance to the mobile game.

The game creator reportedly withdrew any legendary Pokemon that gamers may have caught in "Pokemon Go." Previously, some players claimed that they caught the legendary PokemonArticuno. Niantic Labs confirmed that they accidentally introduced some legendary creatures into "Pokemon Go" and are currently seeking these out for immediate revocation.

Kotaku reported that a "Pokemon Go" couple in Ohio were able to acquire the Articuno, although the means remained uncertain. Some claimed that they used a hack or a glitch, while others believe that it was caught in the wild. According to the owners, Niantic Labs reportedly compensated them with the legendary Pokemon due to some previous issues they experienced with the game.

GameSpot cited Niantic Labs in saying that they unintentionally had a few legendary Pokemon get into a few "Pokemon Go" accounts. They have allegedly rectified the situation and revoked the legendary Pokemon from the accounts of trainers as soon as they found these, with the main purpose of preserving the integrity of the game and ensuring fairness among all "Pokemon Go" fans.

In the meantime, Niantic Labs is actively providing various balances to the game to discourage cheating and have trainers play the game as they initially intended. When the game creator shut down various third-party services like PokeVision that made locating Pokemon much easier, they stated that they aimed to enhance the underlying design of "Pokemon Go." The third-party tools would previously indicate to players whether certain Pokemon were nearby and show how long the creature would be available for. Such approaches have been frowned upon by both Niantic Labs and traditional "Pokemon Go" users.

Pokemongodb stated that there are 151 Pokemon in the Pokedex of the classic anime series. "Pokemon Go" has introduced 142, with four being region-exclusive. Legendary Pokemon have not been included by the game creator in the new game, although players remain optimistic that these will become available in the future. More updates and details on "Pokemon Go" are expected soon.
