The PC market continues its slump despite hope that Windows 10 can alter the course. Such hasn’t happened but new hope lies in the horizon with the Windows 10 Anniversary Update.
There are several reasons tied up to the revival of the PC market. One is that end-users will be forced to upgrade at some point due to hardware requirements, a though that could lead some in opting to buy new PCs instead.
Windows 7 demise
Windows 7 is something that has been hooked to PC makers, particularly Lenovo and HP. The old machines running on that operating system are slowly being shelved with some upgrading to Windows 10.
Considering the new features call for necessary hardware upgrades, such has been tied up to the need to resort to buy new PCs.
Kaby Lake babies
With the Windows 10 Anniversary Update, tied up is the new Intel chip – the Kaby Lake processors. They are set to come out this third quarter and will only support Windows 10. Apparently the latest Windows 10 update readies machines for its coming.
But aside from the upcoming processor, the Windows 10 Anniversary Update to improve touch applications. That includes programs like Windows Ink and voice-assistants like Cortana. There is of course that angle as well involving the Xbox Play Anywhere.
Gamers expected to ramp up hardware requirements
For the gamers, new PCs will be a must which is yet another sign why PC makers have something to look forward to. Many new games require powerful GPUs, which could also drive hardware upgrades, PC World reported.
With Windows 7 likely to die a natural death with users moving to the Windows 10 era, PCs are hooked up in the mix. There are still PC vendors likely to offer Windows 7 PCs with options to upgrade to Windows 10. In that scenario, why settle for such if you can get a brand new (and powerful) PC with the latest Windows OS?
