Electronic Arts video game publishing company published its sales predictions for its two game titles - "Battlefield 1" and "World War 1"- which are set to be released soon. Although many are predicting that the games would be massive hits, EA was modest in giving their expected sales figures once the games are out in the market.

On Aug. 2, the company revealed its financial report for the first quarter of fiscal year 2017. EA's chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen's forecast for "Battlefield 1" was unexpected because it is one of EA's most profitable game series that has recorded millions in terms units sold.

"Typically a Battlefield does 15 million in a year. Our guidance is slightly under that and we hope that excitement builds and it'll go through that number, but for now it's slightly under that number," Gamespot quoted Jorgensen as saying.

But despite of what he said, the CFO said that EA is confident that Battlefield 1's sales profit will eventually surpass the predicted sales as days past by. As EA's CEO Andrew Wilson explained, over 11.5 million gamers played the "Battlefield" game series during Q1, and this just shows how the games keep engaging players over time.

Perhaps, the reason why Electronic Arts is being conservative with its estimation in terms of the number of units that "Battlefield 1" will get upon its release is because Activision is also releasing "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare" around the same time. To be more specific, Warfare is coming out on Nov. 4, two weeks after Battlefield so maybe EA has been considering the fact  that the competition would be stiff as the game is very popular as well.

Meanwhile, "Battlefield 1" has been set for Oct. 21 release while another EA game title, "Titanfall 2" will follow on Oct. 28. Both games are coming to PC, Xbox One and PS4. Electronic Arts believe that releasing two of their best games, just days apart, will help fortify the company's place in the shooter gaming market.
