Millions of fans are now excited for the upcoming release of "The Winds of Winter" book. Now, new reports are claiming that George R.R. Martin might shock fans in the upcoming 20th anniversary of the first book that started the "A Song of Ice and Fire" series.

Rumors are rife that George R.R. Martin could possibly shock fans by releasing "The Winds of Winter" on the 20th Anniversary celebration of the "A Song of Ice and Fire" book series. Sources have claimed that the book could possibly ready by now since the New Mexican author has been releasing some chapters of the much-awaited book these past few months.

Via his Live Journal, George R.R. Martin has announced that he will be releasing a special edition book on the 20th anniversary of the "Game of Thrones" book. "First published on August 1st, 1996, A 'Game of Thrones' marks its twentieth anniversary today," the veteran author has announced via his blog. "In celebration of the fantasy masterpiece that started a cultural phenomenon, we're excited to announce the publication of a special illustrated edition."

Many fans were shocked by George R.R. Martin's announcement. Reports say that "A Game of Thrones: The Illustrated Edition" will be released in Oct. 18, 2016. Will the author release "The Winds of Winter" book? We'll see.

'The Winds of Winter' to be released before 'Game of Thrones' Season 7

Meanwhile, GamenGuide has previously reported that "The Winds of Winter" will be released first before HBO airs "Game of Thrones" Season 7. Reports say that HBO would let George R.R. Martin finish and release the much-anticipated book first after several spoilers have been revealed in the Season 6 finale.

Speaking in a podcast interview, "Game of Thrones" Season 7 creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have confirmed that the upcoming installment will be delayed. "We're starting a bit later because at the end of this season, 'Winter is here' - and that means that sunny weather doesn't really serve our purposes anymore," the showrunners revealed.
