'Pokemon Go' Plus Release Date, News & Update: September Launch Confirmed For iOS And Android? What To Expect

The "Pokemon Go" Plus device is set to be launched soon. While the mobile game continues to grow in popularity in various parts of the world, the game creator is looking for more ways to capitalize on the hype. The next step involves a mobile device, called the "Pokemon Go" Plus, which players can wear anytime and anywhere so they can "catch them all."

At present, "Pokemon Go" is playable for free on both Android and iOS. The game initially launched in the United States and Australia, while more countries followed in the subsequent weeks. The "Pokemon Go" Plus is an add-on to the hit game, which will provide an alternative for players so that they do not have to depend on their smartphone or iPad to keep playing.

Polygon revealed that "Pokemon Go" Plus is a peripheral which costs $34.99. The upcoming device is a wearable bracelet with Bluetooth connectivity, mainly interacting with the game. The "Pokemon Go" Plus appears much like a Pokeball with a Google Maps pin. The tech uses Bluetooth to link to the gamer's smart device. The unit can be worn like a bracelet or clipped to a lapel for added convenience, allowing trainers to stay connected to the game so as not to miss any wild Pokemon and hidden bonuses.

The "Pokemon Go" Plus alerts players when they are adjacent to a Pokestop or available Pokemon. The peripheral will send vibrations as soon as the trainer reaches an actual Pokestop. The "Pokemon Go" Plus is also an efficient tool to catch Pokemon without having to check a smartphone every time.

The "Pokemon Go" Plus will immediately light up when there arein-game opportunities that players may wish to avail of. Players can throw PokeBalls using the device, but only after they have caught the same creature before. This means that trainers still have to use their smartphones to add new Pokemon in their Pokedex.

I4U reported that Nintendo stores in the United States and Europe listed the launch date of the "Pokemon Go" Plus on Sept. 30, 2016. The device immediately sold out when Nintendo provided a brief pre-order period earlier in July 2016, when "Pokemon Go" released. Furthermore, it was confirmed that the "Pokemon Go" Plus will only be compatible with the Apple iPhone, although many expect an update to allow Android compatibility, as well.
