'Pokemon Sun and Moon' Latest Updates & Gameplay: Fans Petition For Return Of Gorilla Harambe; Here's Why

The recent tease of "Pokemon Sun and Moon" had fans raving to see when it was revealed that new Pokemon are to be debuted. The new game takes place in Alola Island, which is the Pokemon universe's version of Hawaii. Aside from that, familiar Pokemon will be reinvented into what is called as their Alola version. For example, Exeggutor now looks something like a palm tree, while Raichu and Meowth look a little more tame and pleasant.

In addition to these updates, there will also be new types, as reported by Forbes. There are quite a lot of these, but are integrated into the Alola region in which they are native to. The game will also support Z Moves, which are more powerful kinds of attacks and even include the ability to mount different kinds of Pokemon to travel the Alola islands faster and easier.

While these new features have gotten fans raving in excitement, a lot of them apparently want just a little more. In a post by Nintendo News, it is reported that thousands have signed an online petition in the hopes of bringing Harambe back to life as a Pokemon in the newest game.

Harambe is a 17-year-old male gorilla who was shot after a 3 year old boy fell into the gorilla's enclosure. The story has since then sparked a huge controversy. Since his death, Harambe has been out and about in memes and posts all over the internet. There is even a Twitter account dedicated to him that sells his own merchandise and a lot of Harambe-themed things.

A fan even wants both Nintendo and The Pokemon Company to make a game. With that, its primary form called Hambo would also be added. Both Pokemon use character models which were taken from a fan made game called Pokemon Sage. Here, they are ghost and fighting type Pokemon with the Meat Shield ability. As of this time of writing, around 53,000 people have provided their digital signature.

While the clamor appears strong, it is also worth considering that majority of online petitions addressed to Nintendo do not get noticed by them.
