'Pokemon Go' Gen 2 Release Date & Latest Updates: Legendaries Roster To Include Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, MewTwo& More

Legendary Pokemon are currently unavailable in "Pokemon Go," although players have been optimistic that Niantic will eventually include these soon. Recent talks surfaced that some legendary Pokemon will be coming to "Pokemon Go" Gen 2.

At San Diego Comic Con 2016, Niantic mentioned that the current "Pokemon Go" is actually a mere 10 percent of the final product in their plan. More updates are expected in the coming months, which will introduce more Pokemon, gameplay features and options. Zapdos, Moltres, Mew, Ditto and MewTwo were reportedly spotted in the internal files of the game. Previously, Articuno was also captured by some "Pokemon Go" players, although Niantic stated that they did not intend to release the legendary Pokemon too early in the game.

The Bitbag wrote that many "Pokemon Go" players believe that legendary Pokemon will become available when the hit mobile game rolls out to more countries. Niantic has yet to announce the official launch date of "Pokemon Go" Gen 2.

PokemonGoHub stated that three new content features and patches will be arriving to "Pokemon Go" soon. "Pokemon Go" Trading will reportedly become available in October 2016. "Pokemon Go" Trainer Battles is expected to launch between December 2016 and January 2017. "Pokemon Go" Gen 2 may release in May 2017. Niantic is expected to continue fine-tuning its Trade system, as well as address various bugs. It is still uncertain whether Legendaries can be traded when these arrive.

The "Pokemon Go" Trainer Battle system is quite complex and costs much to develop, so it will take more time to test and address bugs. The trainer system will most likely be implemented in the same manner as the gym battles system. Majority of combat calculation and validation will take place within the mobile app, instead of the backend infrastructure. "Pokemon Go" trainers will only be able to fight nearby trainers via NFC or Bluetooth.

"Pokemon Go" Gen 2 will allegedly bring 100 new Pokemon and 86 new moves. There will also be baby Pokemon, new mechanisms for PokeBalls and PokeStops and diverging evolution lines. Evolution stones may also appear, together with a few Legendary Pokemon. More updates and details on "Pokemon Go" are expected soon.
