'Arrow' Season 5 Air Date, Spoilers, News & Update: Starling City's Human Target is 'Jessica Jones' Star Wil Traval

Starling City is getting a new character in the form of the Human Target, and he will be portrayed by "Jessica Jones" star Wil Traval. The 36-year old actor would be familiar to TV viewers and binge watchers as the Netflix's show Will Simpson, an NYPD sergeant who is always butting heads with the titular character played by Krysten Ritter.

TV Line reports that Traval is heading to The CW's "Arrow" season 5 to play Human Target, who in the comics is a private investigator who takes on the identities of people who are targeted by hired guns, thus the name. He also goes by Christopher Chance, who in the television series will provide services to Starling City's very own mayor: Oliver Queen.

Traval isn't the first actor to play the Human Target, as musician and actor Rick Springfield portrayed the character in an ABC series back in 1992, and Mark Valley ("The Siege," "Jericho," and "Shrek the Third"), who played the role across two seasons in a short-lived FOX series of the same name. His "Jessica Jones" role is his biggest to date.

Aside from Traval's Human Target, fans should look forward to "some really badass monsters" in "Arrow" season 5, as executive producer Wendy Mercile told Entertainment Weekly during the SDCC. She hinted that the show will focus more on the crime in Starling City, and while there may be no large imminent terrorist threats in Queen's office, there will be a lot of street crime that the show will tackle once it comes back for its fifth season.

Fans should also look out for the arrival of Ragman the vigilante, who will be played by "Blindspot" actor Joe Dinicol. Expect Ragman to come across Arrow and possibly rub off on him the wrong way when "Arrow" season 5 comes back in October. Dinicol's role is currently in a recurring status, as per Screenrant.

"Arrow" returns to The CW this October 5 at 8 p.m.
