S.H.I.E.L.D To Start Filming In January

ABC and Marvel's pilot project "S.H.I.E.L.D." will start filming from January 2013. The information was Tweeted by Marc Graser of Daily Variety.

S.H.I.E.L.D. is a fictional espionage agency. It is a secret military law-enforcement agency in the Marvel Comics Universe.

An announcement was made in August regarding Joss Whedon ("The Avengers") guiding a television series for ABC. It involved an exclusive deal with Marvel Studios. The series will be out before the filming for "The Avengers 2" begins, Coming Soon reported.

Ming-Na Wen joined the cast of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents as Agent Melinda May. This news was out a couple of weeks ago. Other actors in the cast include Clark Gregg, who will reprise his role as Agent Phil Coulson.

As production dates approach closer, more names of the casting will be announced.

The TV series pilot will be directed by Joss Whedon, who will co-write with his brother Jed Whedon and Maurissa.

Joss Whedon, Jed Whedon, Maurissa Tancharoen, Jeffrey Bell and Jeph Loeb will be the executive producers for "S.H.I.E.L.D."

"S.H.I.E.L.D." stands for Strategic Hazard Intervention Espionage Logistics Directorate or Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division.

The series will be live-action.

S.H.I.E.L.D. uses different types of advanced weapons and vehicles. The Helicarrier (seen in "The Avengers") is the agency's signature capital chip and headquarters. Its standard vehicle is the S.H.I.E.L.D. Flying Car.
