‘Overwatch’ News & Update: Blizzard to Unveil New Medieval Map; What the Eichenwalde Map is For?

"Overwatch" continues to get upgrades so the game is becoming better and more exciting for gamers. Recently, Blizzard Entertainment laid out another development with the introduction of new new characters and a map called Eichenwalde.

At the Gamescom 2016 where Blizzard was one of the participants, the company openly talked about their games and what game enthusiasts can expect from them in the coming days. In one of the interviews, the officials also shared that the "Overwatch" Summer Games was a huge success so players must try it now since it will only be available for a limited time.

Another thing that Blizzard revealed is the addition of Eichenwalde map in the game. The game developer unveiled a video showing the highlights of the new map in the "Overwatch" gameplay.

Based on the clip, Eichenwalde is an abandoned medieval small town where Bastion also lived. Moreover, as posted on "Overwatch" forums, the map was described as: "The site of one of the most famous battles during the Omnic Crisis, it was here that the leader of the Crusaders, Balderich von Alder, and a handful of his best soldiers made a last stand against an advancing automaton army."

Balderich and his army ultimately failed to win the combat and they were slain during the battle. Thus, in the gameplay, the one team's mission is to use the Eichenwalde map to find and retrieve Balderich's remains from its resting place while the other team must protect the burial site from being breached.

So far, the new "Overwatch" map is gaining good reviews and players just cannot wait to try it. Blizzard did not give specific date when they will release the new map but stated that it is coming soon.
